Massage Chair Reviews: Panasonic EP1272 shiatsu massage chair

This review is of the Panasonic massage chair model EP 1272. The EP 1272 is part of the Real Pro Elite series of massage recliners. Panasonic is known for its advanced massage techniques and simple electronics. This review will point out the main features, functions and warranty coverage for your perusal.

One of the important aspects of the purchase is your long term protection. The warranty coverage is designed to remove the longer term risk from the purchase. Let us take a look at what Panasonic offers with the EP-1272. This model comes with 3 years parts and 1 year labor. Labor is only available at authorized outlets which is not too convenient. Panasonic now offers in home service, but does not include it with this model. We find this warranty under par for the rest of the industry.

Let’s look at some of the more important features of this shiatsu recliner. There are many therapeutic massage functions incorporated into this model. There are 4 automatic massage programs, 8 manual massage programs, and 3 manual back massage courses. There are also lower body air massage capabilities for the calves and feet.

Choose from the 4 one touch programs for your convenience. These one touch programs include Swedish, shiatsu, stretch and quick. Swedish targets the loosening of the back, neck and shoulders with long strokes, circular motions and other rhythmic movements. Shiatsu stimulates the back, neck and shoulders with a soft, deep rubbing motion and tapping actions. Stretch will use rolling, pressing, shiatsu and kneading massages to target the back and shoulders. Quick gives a fast overall massage with emphasis on the back, neck and shoulders for a relieving massage.

This massage recliner comes equipped with 8 manual massage treatments. Select from kneading, compression, Swedish, Hawaiian, soft shiatsu, tapping, regional rolling and full rolling to soothe your tightest muscles. Kneading is great for the neck and shoulders. Compression soothes you into total body relaxation. Swedish targets the back for a thorough loosening. Hawaiian takes the tension out of the lower back region. Soft shiatsu works those knots out of your back and shoulders. Tapping provides invigoration of the muscle groups and tendons. Regional rolling concentrates a press massage along the spine. Full rolling helps by stretching out the back muscles.

The leg rest has a dual purpose massage. It can be used to massage the calves or the feet. If you place your legs into the leg rest, then it will target your calves. To massage your feet, the leg rest must be raised more horizontal and you must bend your knees to place your feet in. The leg rest provides an air compression massage. This is accomplished by energizing airbags built into the leg rest. They provide a gentle or firm squeeze, hold and release massage. This is particularly effective to relieve tight, sore or aching muscles in the calves and feet.

We like the simple design of the Panasonic remote control. They have certainly set the standard over the years for the industry. The one touch automatic programs are excellent for a full body massage. Need a little customization, then just flip open the hidden panel and select from the eight manual massage treatments. Select exactly the area or pinpoint a specific point to work over in your favorite technique. You can even adjust the roller width and set the massage intensity. This massage recliner is very versatile.

The EP-1272 is a solid contributor to the Real Pro Elite massage chair line by Panasonic. You have such a wide range of manual massage therapies. You would be hard pressed not to find relief with this machine. Although, the massage chair is solidly built, we have to say we are not impressed with the short warranty coverage from Panasonic. They also need to work on the industrial design and make it more aesthetic for the average residence. But on the massage side, the EP-1272 is a solid performer and one of the better values in the mid range massage chair recliner market.

Treatment Approaches for Bruxism in Children

Sleep problems are frequent among healthy school going children seen at general pediatric practice. Sleep related problems were reported in 42.7% children that included nocturnal enuresis (18.4%), sleep talking (14.6%), bruxism (11.6%) nightmares (6.8%), night terrors (2.9%) snoring (5.8%) and sleepwalking (1.9%). Bruxism is a destructive habit. It is defined as the nonproductive diurnal or nocturnal clenching or grinding of the teeth.

Bruxism happens in about 15 percent of youngsters and in as many as 96 percent of grown-ups. The etiology of bruxism is unclear. It has been linked with stress, occlusal disorders, allergies and sleep positioning. In addition, type A personality behavior combined with stress is more predictive of bruxism. Because of its nonspecific pathology, bruxism may be difficult to diagnose.

Beside complaints from sleep partners, clenching-grinding, sleep bruxism, myofacial pain, craniomaxillofacial musculoskeletal pain, temporomandibular disorders, oro-facial pain, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue spectrum disorders are linked. The main clinical signs of bruxism comprise tooth wear, tooth mobility, hypertrophy masticatory muscles, and tender joints. Other symptoms of bruxism are multiple and diverse. They include temporomandibular joint pain and dysfunction, head and neck pain, erosion, abrasion, loss of and damage to supporting structures, headaches, oral infection, tooth sensitivity muscle pain and spasm, disturbance of aesthetics, and interference and oral discomfort.

Treatment for bruxism may be simple or complex, depending on the nature of the disorder. Severe bruxism disorders are difficult to treat and their prognoses also may be questionable. Children with bruxism are generally managed with observation and reassurance. Most of the children’s bruxism habit will disappear naturally as they grow up. Adults may be managed with stress reduction therapy, modification of sleep positioning, drug therapy, biofeedback training, physical therapy and dental evaluation. Correction of the malocclusion with orthodontic procedures, restorative procedures, or occlusal adjustment by selective grinding will not control the bruxism habit.

What about prevention? Researchers have found only a weak correlation between different types of morphologic malocclusion such as Class II and III molar relationship, deep bite, overjet, and dental wear or grinding. Moreover, there is no correlation between periodontal disease and bruxism in children. Because the malocclusions’ status in children does not increase the probability of bruxism, early orthodontic treatment (braces) to prevent bruxism is not scientifically justified.

Bruxism is a destructive habit that may result in severe dental deterioration. Bruxism in childhood may be a persistent trait. The occlusal trauma and tooth wear in childhood bruxism can be succeeded by increased anterior tooth wear 20 years later. If your child has significant tooth attrition, dental mobility or tooth fracture may happen. Therefore, it is mandatory to take your child to your dentist for evaluation of bruxism.

Fungal infections are common on both fingernails and toenails. Toenails are more prone to be affected by fungus, as these living organisms thrive in dark damp environments available on the foot than on hand.

When inflicted with toenail fungus, the nails can turn yellowish or have brownish discoloration. They may become thick or brittle over time and break or shed on own. Such kind of nails is unsightly, disfiguring, embarrassing and painful most of the times. Toenail fungus can happen to any one. It is a contagious disease that spreads on contact too…

Abnormal pH level of the skin, trauma to the nail, unhygienic feet and decreased immunity of the body permit this disease.

Avoiding toenail fungus -

- The fungus thrives in warm moist areas like spas, swimming pools, showers or locker rooms. If you step on a warm puddle or wet floor, you can pick up the infection. After using such public places, it is ideal to wash your feet thoroughly and dry them well. – Wear cotton socks to absorb moisture from the feet that happens from sweating. – If your socks are damp, take them off and dry your feet before wearing a fresh pair of dry socks. – Wear shoes that have a comfortable fit and allow plenty of air and moisture to pass through. – Avoid sharing towels, washcloths, shoes or any other personal items of those people who have already contracted this disease. – Wash and dry your feet thoroughly every time. Use a towel vigorously to remove any dead skin and improve circulation. – Keep your nails cut short, and don’t use nail polish. – Trim your toenails regularly. Trim them into a straight line and then smooth the edges with a nail file.

Toenail fungus remedy -

- Tea tree oil is a potent natural antiseptic and fungicide that will help fight your fungus. Apply undiluted tea tree oil with olive oil to the affected toe nail. Alternatively you can put few drops of tea tree oil on toenails and rub it thoroughly every day.

- Soak your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toe nails looking healthy.

- Soak your toenails for 15 – 20 minutes in basin full of warm water and natural apple cider vinegar mixed in equal proportion. When done, dry your toenails thoroughly. Use a hair dryer on warm setting to absorb all the moisture in and around the toes.

- Put equal amount of tea tree oil and lavender oil on a cotton ball or swab. Dab it under the top edge of the toe nail and surrounding area 2 or 3 times a day. Tea tree oil is natural antibiotic and lavender will help fight the infection and prevent skin irritation.

- Blend 2 drops of Oregano essential oil with a tsp of olive oil. Apply this mixture on the affected area daily for NOT more than three weeks. Oregano essential oil has antiseptic, antibacterial, antiparasitical, antiviral, analgesic and antifungal properties.

- Until the growth of the new nail is complete, apply apple cider vinegar 2 or 3 times a day.

- Lather AHA creams onto your feet before going to bed. This will flush the rough scaly skin from your feet that is more prone to growing fungus.

Home Remedies For Boils

Boil is a localized collection of pus surrounded by inflamed tissue in the skin. It starts off as reddened tender area and over a period of time, the area around it becomes firm and hard. The center of the boil full of pus is soft and is filled with infection fighting white blood cells, bacteria and proteins that eradicate the infection. Finally the pus forms a head, which can be surgically opened or drained out through the surface of the skin.

One can not pinpoint the reason for the occurrence of boils. They can be caused by ingrown hair, any splinter or foreign object lodged in the skin or clogged sweat glands that become infected to name a few. Boils can happen to young and old alike. It is one of the common skin infections ranging from the severity of a pimple to an abscess. Boils can be treated either with home remedies or medications. Any painful boil that is not rapidly improving should be seen by the healthcare practitioner.

The primary treatment for boils is heat application in form of hot soaks or hot packs. Application of hot compress increases the circulation to the area, allowing the body to fight off the infection. 10 – 15 minutes of hot compress four to fives times a day will help to bring the boil to a head and encourage easy drainage.

If you skin often breaks into boils, start cleaning your skin with an antiseptic soap. This could lessen frequent appearance of boils.

Regular use of antibacterial soaps helps prevent bacteria from building up on the skin. This can reduce the chance for the hair follicles to become infected and prevent the formation of boils.

If hair follicles on the back of arms or in and around the thighs continue to be inflamed, regular use of a loofah can break up oil plugs and build up around the follicles.

Cysts often turn into boils. Cysts can be prevented by avoiding direct pressure or irritation on the buttock area when the hair follicle becomes inflamed. Regular soap and hot water cleaning and drying is helpful.

Some of the home remedies for boils

Juice of garlic or onion applied externally on boils helps to ripen them, break them and drain out the pus.

A cupful of fresh bitter gourd juice mixed with a tsp of lime juice taken on an empty stomach daily treats this condition.

Mix 1 tsp of milk cream mixed with 1/2 tsp of vinegar and a pinch of turmeric powder to form a paste. When applied, it helps ripening the blood boils and heals them without becoming septic.

Gently warm a betal leaf till it becomes soft. Coat it with a layer of castor oil and put it over the inflamed part. Replace the leaf every few hours. Few applications of the castor oil coated betal leaf will rupture and drain out the boil.

Ground cumin seeds in water forming a paste. Apply the paste to the boils with beneficial results.

Steep parsley in boiled water till it is soft and juicy. When hot, wrap it clean muslin or linen cloth and apply it on the boils.

Application of turmeric powder on the boils enables to ripen it and burst.

Aromatherapy – Using Nature’s Aroma To Cure

Aromatherapy
makes use of the essential oils from the plants and other aromatic compounds to help soothe the human mind and cure certain illness. You can do it at home with the help of essential oils, perfume and cosmetics. When it becomes a part of pharmacology, it is known as clinical aromatherapy.

Aromachology studies the effects of different aromas on human behavior. Certain aromas are believed to have relaxing effect on our mind and body. Aromatherapy includes not only the use of essential oils, but also absolutes, hydrosols, infusion, phytoncides, and carrier oils. The absolutes are oils extracted by superficial fluid extraction, like the rose absolute. Hydrosols, like the rose water, are aqueous by-products after distillation. Infusions are the aqueous solutions of plant material. Phytoncides are the natural volatile organic compounds extracted from plants. Sweet almond oil is an example of carrier oil, used to dilute essential oils.

Aromatherapy can be done through inhalation. By taking baths, massages and compresses, the essential oils can be absorbed by the skin. Through oral rinses and gargles, they can be absorbed through the mucous membranes. Ingestion is another method of aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy causes various therapeutic effects like the antiseptic effects, anesthetic effects, and psychological effects. Aromatherapy has its effects on the central nervous system and the metabolism. For home aromatherapy, you can blend neroli, eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary, nutmeg, and peppermints in the base oils and add a few drops of basil in that mixture. For bathing purposes, you can add oils like lavender, and rose to the water. Aromatherapy can heal depression, insomnia, acne, joint pains, stress, cough, and other types of diseases. For the skin, aromatherapy best solves acne and dry skin problems.

Aromatherapy helps to enhance the skin and makes it glow. It gives a pedicure and manicure effect, and prevents skin wrinkles. The common essential oils used for aromatherapy are sweet almond, avocado, cocoa butter, grape seed, jojoba, olive, peanut, rose hip, sesame, sunflower and more. Make sure not to use ajowan, almond, arnica, calamus, garlic, melilotus, onion, mustard, wormseed, and wormwood, without proper supervision from the aromatherapy practitioner.

Spa chemicals – Use them at the Right Time and in the Right Manner

You are extremely elated and excited with the new addition of a spa or a hot tub in your home. A spa at home provides you the comfort of rejuvenating your de stressing yourself at your convenience. But in order to access the spa at your desired time, you should take due and regular care of it. You should acquire the right spa chemicals and use them in the right way so as you spa is available for use at all times while you do not fall ill at its cost.

In an initiative to keep the spa or the hot tub in topmost condition, you need to make use of specially formulated spa chemicals and liquids. These in turn will assure you of clear, clean sparkling spa water which will work wonders in enhancing your spa experience.

You do need to regularly check the pH level of your spa water which in a way aids the chlorine based sanitisers in killing bacteria and viruses. In case of a high pH level you have to bring it down to the ideal level of of 7.2 to 7.6 with Total Alkalinity of 80/140 mg/l (ppm). Ideal for you to use would be the Spa Chemicals phMinus while in low pH water conditions you could go in for Spa Chemcial phPlus which works towards raising the ph levels of the spa water.

Spa Water Sanitisers

• The Spa Chemical Bromine is also used as a sanitiser in hot tubs. People prefer to use Bromine as it does not emit a strong smell such as chlorine while is more effective at higher temperatures in getting rid of algae and bacteria.

• Chlorine tablets are equally popular but as a precautionary measure it is advised that you check the chlorine level in your spa water before using them.

• On other hand if you face the problem of surface foam in the hot tub or spa then you should use the Spa Chemicals No Foam product which is stabalised with Cyanuric Acid. Before ending a few words of precaution could prove to be of great value to dedicated spa users who are regular in maintaining their spa or hot tubs as the case may be.

• Keep your Spa Chemicals away from children’s reach while ensuring they are properly sealed • Follow the prescribed instructions for best results

• The Spa Chemicals have to diluted with the water and not the other way round

The Spa chemicals should be stored in a cool, dry and shady place so that they retain their effectiveness

Spa chemicals – Use them at the Right Time and in the Right Manner / cris

Spa chemicals ensure you get healthy and clean spa water whenever you use the spa for your rejuvenating or health purposes. A judicious use of spa chemicals in the prescribed manner is advised for best results which go a long way in enhancing your spa experience.

By the time you reach the golden years of life, your feet have served you well! Pay them back by adjusting to their needs as you age.

Don’t expect to have the same sized feet throughout your life. Feet tend to increase in length and width as you age. This is due to the gradual collapsing of your arches through daily wear and tear. You may need to re-measure your feet the next time you go shoe shopping to ensure you are still buying shoes that are the right size. Note: Your two feet won’t necessarily lengthen at the same rate.

You may also notice that the skin on your feet is thinner than it used to be and that the natural fatty cushioning that exists on the ball of your feet and pads of your toes has decreased. This thinner skin means that you are more susceptible to injuries on your feet. Be on the look out for bumps, blisters
, scrapes and bruises that could lead to foot ulcers or infections in your feet. This is especially important from senior citizens who have diabetes, or who have reduced circulation in their lower extremities. Poor circulation and neuropathy (damage in your nervous system) may make it difficult for your body to detect and treat infection. Check your feet for minor injuries everyday, or have someone do it for you. This kind of proactive care will go a long way when it comes to preventing foot ulcers, infection and amputation.

Gout is another problem that may affect the feet in old age. It is mainly a concern for men over the age of 50. Gout occurs when uric acid build-ups in the joints. It can cause the joints of the foot (and particularly the big toe) to become red, sore and swollen. For feet that suffer from gout or arthritis, rest and elevate the feet when possible. Anti-inflammatory drugs may also help to reduce pain and swelling.

Other foot problems that affect senior citizens include ingrown toenails (the nails tend to become particularly thick and brittle when we age), bunions (usually aggravated by long histories of wearing ill-fitting shoes), corns and calluses. Invest in athletic or orthopedic shoes that protect your foot from scrapes and bruises. Look for lace-up shoes that enable you to adjust the size of your shoe to accommodate the swelling of your foot. Make sure your shoes don’t pinch or cramp the toes. There is no such thing as a “break-in” period when you buy athletic shoes. If the shoes hurt, then find another pair!

Craniosacral Therapy

Light touch coupled with intent and direction of energy is used to bring the cranial, spinal, and pelvic structured back into balance and to remove blockages that the body’s own physiologic forces have been unable to overcome. One of the hallmarks of craniosacral therapy is the use of a very light touch. The amount of pressure used is seldom more than 1 ounce, and is often more on the order of 5 grams the weight of a nickel. By using such gentle pressure, the therapist assists the client’s body to self-correct and avoids encountering resistance.
An experiential example can facilitate understanding of how light touch decreases resistance. For example, imagine a hard pull on one of your arms. Your immediate reaction is to resist by holding back against the pull. Thus protecting yourself. The use of light touch is a way of not engaging the body’s natural tendency to resist change. Reliance on the inherent self-correcting mechanism of the body is another of the hallmarks of craniosacral therapy. This approach relies on the body’s own wisdom and desire to move toward homeostasis to guide the treatment session. Treatment is a cooperative effort between the therapist who is trying to help the system work more effectively and the person receiving treatment. For this reason, treating the craniosacral system is not only useful for correcting disease, but also for promoting a high level of wellness.

Take Time To Choose The Right Massage School

Taking a course on massage education involves the same procedure like any other education programs. But, prior to getting admitted you have to know what you exactly want to learn and what are your plans after the training session is over. Do you want to be a private professional helping your clients feel relaxed or soothe their pain? Do you want to be a part of a massage experts’ team for sports persons etc? Or do you want to attach yourself with hospitals and nursing homes?

There are different types of massage techniques offered by different schools. These include Swedish, Deep Muscle, Acupressure, Reiki, Sports Massage, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue, etc. The different types of massages have different benefits; therefore you have to do quite a bit of homework before getting admitted to a particular massage school.

Once you know the type of school that is best suited to you, you have to evaluate the massage schools in your area and study their offer programs intensely. You have to take your decision now. It is great if you personally contact each school to study the environment, their courses, costs, scholarships etc and then make up your mind. Do a detailed study and f possible, talk to the massage school students that you have short listed. Ask for an appointment with the admissions staff and discuss your plans and study their level of professionalism. Are they able to answer all of your questions convincingly? Do you feel you can depend or rely on them?

Enquire about the licensing requirements and gather specific information on the exams schedules and class hours. Make a tour round the school and examine the classroom and training facilities. Does the school offer a comfortable atmosphere for learning?

Find out whether the schools have been awarded with any accreditation. You can even apply for financial aids to begin your massage therapy education. Federal loans and grants are generally available for accredited massage schools. With the help of the massage school you can also apply for low interest education loans to meet up with the training costs.

You have to de a bit of research at the initial stage. Once you get all the questions answered you know which school is suitable for you. Then you can happily get admitted to the massage school to pursue your career in massage education and ensure a better future in the long run.

Massage For Expectant Moms

Pains and aches are part and parcel of every pregnancy. Physical discomfort, muscular tensions, headaches, backaches, pains occur due to increase in weight, shifting posture and hormone levels. Pre natal massages aim to improve circulation, alleviate aches and pains, eases muscular tensions and other pregnancy related symptoms, perking up expectant mother’s mood and mental attitude.

Stress related areas which demand attention are back, neck and shoulder. Massaging the legs reduces blood pooling and full body massage to the head/scalp, feet, hands and face area provides relief from tensions and aches. All the areas should be massaged gently and pressure should be applied when needed.

Experienced masseurs pick ways that are safe and effective and provide special pampering and comfort. Prenatal massage offers encompasses a broad range of benefits such as – Increases circulation – Improves digestion – Reduces fatigue – Reduces swelling in hands and lower legs, fewer calf cramps – Eases backaches, headaches, shoulder and neck aches caused due to muscular tension and postures to accommodate the increasing weight. – Lessens pain in the pelvic/hip area – Alleviates stress on weight bearing joints such as knees, ankle and lower back – Promotes relaxation and deep breathing – Reduces stress hormones – Decreased insomnia – Helps in maintaining proper posture

Prenatal massage during pregnancy is beneficial emotionally as it allows soon to be moms to unwind, feel calm, healthy and comforted during the period of physical and emotional stress.

Prenatal massage can be done in different ways. Expectant moms mostly lie on their sides. A newly designed pillow especially for expecting mothers is available. This pillow has deep center cutout enabling the moms to lie flat on their bellies making them relaxed and comfortable. Lying flat on back reduces circulation of blood to the mother and child; pillows are used to keep the mother’s body in elevated position. Body pillows are used for side lying positions too.

After delivery, new moms are under all kind of emotional and physical stress, especially sleep deprivation. Post partum massage is therapeutic, helping the body to return to its normal state by adjusting to the physical and emotional demands of their little one.

Massage is usually safe for most mothers, though it is advisable to check with your doctor prior to getting one. If you have high BP or diabetes, prenatal massage is not recommended. It is ideal that you tell your therapist if you any problems or complications with your pregnancy. Duration of the massage can be anywhere from 10 minutes to one hour. It depends on how much discomfort you are experiencing and how much time you have on hand. Massage once a week during 2nd trimester and twice a week or more during 3rd trimester are ideal.

Massaging The Upper Body

In practice since ancient times, massage is a relaxing experience of hand strokes on the body to rejuvenate the mind and body and eliminate stress. Using hands and fingers, the therapist alleviates any kind of muscular pains and discomforts and relaxes the muscles.

Stress related areas in the upper body are shoulder and neck area. Do not massage the front of the neck area around the throat as it is the most delicate of all.

When the person is lying down, massaging the upper body is easier. If someone has headaches, neck or shoulder pains, start by massaging the upper torso. Rub your fingers in circular motion over the temples, cheek bones and forehead lightly. The massage receiver feels relaxed.

Continue the massage along the cheek bone and jaw line, rubbing softly but firmly. Use gentle pressure around the eye socket area with finger tips. Massage the scalp areas, especially along the base of the head and temple using your finger tips for great effects.

To massage the shoulder and chest muscles, stand in front of the massager receivers’ head with your fingertips facing their toes. Rub the chest with your hands in flat position, moving your palms up and down and side ways leading to the shoulders.

Cup your hands underneath the shoulders. Use your fingertips to relax the muscles of the arms. This alleviates socket pain and helps to relax more. Move your hands up and down the arms; continue massaging the muscles so that your arms will relax further. Repeat the same with the other arm.

Rub the back in the same manner that you massaged the chest. Standing at the head of massage receiver, press your palms into the back muscles, rubbing it in a circular motion with your finger tips. It will relax the muscles and provide relief from stress and pain.

Whether you are on business trip, a romantic holiday, a family trip or simply want to experience outdoor life, aromatherapy essential oils come useful along the way. Take along carrier oils for diluting the essential oils.

Are you going away on business trip? Whether you have to meet clients, give presentations, hold seminars, business meetings, etc, one can surely feel stressed out. Take along with you lavender, peppermint, marjoram and Neroli essential oils.

- Massage your body with 1 drop of marjoram and lavender oil each mixed with sweet almond or calendula oil after a warm bath to lessen the jet lag effect.

- Are you jittery before a big presentation or a meeting? Inhale few drops of Neroli oil to settle all the butterflies and ease all the nervousness.

- For headaches or migraines, concoct 1 drop of peppermint & lavender oil each with 1 tsp of sweet almond oil and massage it on your forehead, temples, sides and base of your neck. It will ease the headache away and let you stay alert. Few drops of lavender oil on your pillow will allow for peaceful night of sleep.

- Eating out and upset stomach go hand in hand. Massage 1 drop of peppermint & lavender oil each with 1 tsp of sweet almond oil on your stomach to help you with indigestion. Or you can try a peppermint tea.

Holidaying with your sweetheart or going for your honeymoon? Make sure you smell desirable all the time. Rose & jasmine oil are considered romantic oils. – 1 drop of rose and jasmine oil each in 100 ml of jojoba oil makes a nice personal perfume for your holiday.

- A single drop of Ylang Ylang with its oriental scent is heady potent seduction perfume. – For a romantic bath, add little of your personal perfume to the bath gel or water. You can use the perfume as massage oil on your partner.

Out with the kids. Calendula oil, lavender oil, chamomile essential oil and tea tree oil are some of children’s oil that comes handy. – Inhale a drop of lavender or peppermint oil from kerchief or tissue to ease the nausea and travel sickness. – Got a tired kid on hand.

Having A Relaxing Day At A Spa

These days our bodies and minds are under increasing stress due to our hectic lifestyles. Trying to balance work and home life can lead to us feeling tired and irritable. Our muscles ache and many of us suffer with a bad back. What we long for is to take some time out for ourselves and be pampered at a spa health club. Afterwards we would be rejuvenated and ready to tackle what the world
throws at us again.

A spa is a wonderfully relaxing experience and involves treatments for every inch of our bodies. You simply choose which you want to indulge in and tailor-make your own spa routine. There are usually different types of massage, mud baths, manicures, facials, steam rooms and all the latest techniques available for you to choose from at the spa.

The majority of spas are part of an entire health resort where you can also indulge on other activities and give yourself a holiday away from the hustle and bustle of
everyday life.

A spa retreat could work out to be very expensive if you wanted to indulge in absolutely everything possible. We can’t all spare that kind of cash and if you look into the different services and facilities that the spa resort offers and which packages they offer you will find that prices can vary greatly. You can spend a day or a month at a spa so you can always find a deal that suits you, and your pocket.

A trip to a spa is often seen as an extravagant indulgence and we try to justify our reasons for not attending to one. Our wellbeing is more important than most of the other, more trivial items, that we spend our money on but we often feel guilty at the thought of treating ourselves. We need to get out of this ridiculous mindset.

Visiting a spa, even for an afternoon to have a massage can have amazingly beneficial effects on our whole state of mind. If we are more relaxed then we feel happier and are actually able to perform our daily duties better. We owe it to ourselves to take a spa, at least once in our lives!

Aromatherapy And Kids

Aromatherapy is a new approach to emotional well being and healing through the use of essential oils. Oils in aromatherapy have soothing effect on the body, mind and soul.

A gentle hug, smile or a kiss are forms of connection, bonding between the parent and the child. A loving nurturing touch of massage on the feet, arms, hands, back, abdomen and legs is therapeutic for both the child and parent, usually the mother. Babies at six weeks of age can recognize their mother’s scent, hence making them extremely sensitive to any kind of fragrance, pleasant or unpleasant. Fragrant essential oils used during the upbringing of your child supports your little one’s health, happiness and well being.

Essential oils have distinct composition determining the fragrance, colour, and effect on our body. Before you introduce your child to the aromatic world of fragrances, seek advice from your GP or qualified aroma therapist. If possible, carry out detailed research your self on the oil you plan to use on your infant or child.

Listed below are few commonly used essential oils that are used for kids.

- Lavender oil is excellent home remedy for headaches, earaches and even insect bites. – Geranium and rose oils act as a good skin softener, toner and natural astringent. – Chamomile and peppermint oils prevent hair loss. – Lavender, lemon and curry leaf oils provide relief from dandruff. – For any bruises and burns, use tea tree and lavender oils. – Black pepper oil is good for constipation. – Cedar wood, eucalyptus and tea tree oils alleviate coughs. – Ginger, lavender and thyme oil works wonders on sore throats. – Lavender and roman chamomile oil blend allows for restful sleep at night. – Lemon and grapefruit oils added to a tub of warm water for a bath refreshes the kid.

A word of caution for any parents planning on using aromatherapy oils on their children. Please exercise caution while using essential oils. Its best to stick to mild oils and less is best. Since essential oils are highly concentrated, make sure that they are properly diluted with water or carrier oils. Improper dilution can result in skin irritation for your little ones. Don’t let your children be alone while using essential oils.

Massage benefits individuals of all age groups and different conditions. Touch is as important to any infants and kids like eating and sleeping. Massaging involves loving, gentle stroking or kneading by a parent or caregiver on various parts of a child’s body like the face, head, arms, shoulders, neck, hands, back, legs and feet.

Use of oils on the body of your precious little ones to soothe, relax and heal affirms a strong, close bond conveying a comforting sense of trust and security.

Early infant massage enhances the development of the nervous system and stimulates all other systems of the body. It improves circulation, respiration, aids digestion and eases elimination of wastes from the body. It also makes your little one less prone to gas and colic ailments. Massage of baby in its growing years prepares the body for sitting, standing and walking.

Massage is a wonderful stress buster for children who are prone to all kind of stress. Like a child starting a school in a new area, health, fights amongst parents, exams or peer pressure, etc produce emotional, physical and mental stress. Massage reduces stress hormones and heals the body.

Each child responds differently to massage. Some may squirm, cry, or some might just appear more relaxed and calm and also fall asleep.

There is no fixed time to massage your baby. Find a time suitable for you and your baby. Some enjoy in the morning after their feed, some in the afternoon before or after their naps. Massage before bedtime can put a cranky baby to sleep peacefully. Follow the massage with a warm bath.

While giving a massage, sit straight either on the floor or on the bed or stand before the table. The room is warm enough as your little one can shiver when undressed. The place where you massage you baby should be quiet and away from distractions of all kinds.

Lay your child on soft surface like thick set of towels so it may not hurt it self when it wriggles or squirms. Keep aside towel, pair of wash cloths, clean diaper and baby clothes for use after the massage.

Oils are good for lubrication, helping your hand glide smoothly over your baby’s soft and rather delicate skin. Small babies have a habit of putting their hand or fingers in their mouth all the time, so it’s ideal to use oil that is of good quality. Use cold pressed (oils extracted by means of pressure) or unscented oils. Alternatively you can use baby oils produced by many companies which specialize in baby products. Grape seed oil has nice texture, apricot and almond oils are smooth, light and easily absorbable into the body. To massage your babies, use coconut oil in summers and mustard oil in winter.

Hand Massage: The Secret To Having Unimaginably Beautiful Hands

Most people are vain about their hands. This is because they are, aside from the face, what is apparent first and foremost to other people. It is likewise pleasant to see hands that are clean and white. Hands which are dirty and neglected are a disgrace and may cause people to form negative opinions about their owner.

It is, however, difficult to maintain the softness and cleanliness of one’s hands. This is obviously because they are the ones being used to help oneself around. They clasp, grip, clamp and hold on to anything and everything that they need to. As a result, they have become the receiving end of abuses that are too many to mention.

Taking care of one’s hands goes beyond washing them whenever they are soiled and applying beauty aids like moisturizers and lotions to them for maintenance. Caring for them also includes allowing them to rest whenever they need to and making sure that they are in good condition all the time. The process called giving hand massage has also become one of the options one could try out to be able to give his hands proper care. This is because giving hand massage to one’s hands allows blood to circulate better through them. Giving hand massage also serves the purpose of allowing them to rejuvenate and to regain their missing vitality.

Giving hand massage to one’s hands is something that would prove to be beneficial, and how to give hand massage is as easy as 1-2-3. The first step that needs to be undertaken in giving hand massage is pouring half a teaspoon of vegetable oil onto the palm of one’s hand. Rubbing the substance should make it cover the entire area of the palm. After doing this, the oil should be spread around the hand of the person being massaged. Light stroking movements should be used.

The next step in giving hand massage involves moving the thumbs away from each other from the center of the hands towards the outsides several times, then between the tendons on the back of the hand and towards the wrist. Then, taking each finger between the finger and the thumb, circular or twisting movements should be done up and down each finger.

The next step in giving hand massage involves turning over the hand being massaged. The same routine of moving the thumbs away from each other from the center of the palm is to be done while applying more pressure this time. After this, circular movement using the thumbs is to be made all over the palm of the one being massaged. The last step in giving hand massage involves holding the hand of the one being massaged while sliding a hand up the arm. This is to be done several times before finally proceeding to give hand massage on the other hand.

Giving hand massage to one’s hands is something that is bound to give a priceless experience to them. Giving hand massage is easy, healthy and beneficial aesthetically speaking. Techniques such as giving hand massage are able to lend new lives to tired, beaten, overused hands as they are parts of the body which deserve a little more pampering than what they actually get. Giving hand massage is for people who want to have unimaginably beautiful hands, and this is the benefit giving hand massage is able to offer to hands that are in dire need of tender loving care.
